Take a gander at this three word story (edited for clarity). It consisted mostly of me and one other person going back and forth. And while I was copying and pasting three words at a time into a text file for a half hour, I thought there had to be a better way. Forums aren’t that great for displaying three word stories anyway, so that gave me the idea to create my own method. That’s what I’ve been working on lately.

If everything goes as planned, it will be open to anyone to create a story, just like a forum. I’ve decided to make it invitation based so I don’t have to put limits on what can be entered. If someone decides not to play nice, just uninvite them and they won’t be able to add to your story. I’ve got the basic functionality working, and entries are lined up one after another so it actually looks like a story. Now I’ve just got to get the user system up. I plan on conducting a beta test here at my blog soon.

This also gave me the opportunity to finally use CodeIgniter, and it’s been working out pretty well so far. The MVC model takes some getting used to, but the only thing CodeIgniter really lacks is a good templating system. Of course, there are libraries you can download if you really need something.
