mootools Released

I first discovered moofx earlier this year and was amazed at the simplicity and small file size of the library. It allows you to use simple visual effects with javascript, such as expanding divs. You could even create your own effects quite easily. I used it for the fun of it but nothing more, mostly because it depended on a lite version of prototype.
Now mad4milk has released an entire framework called mootools, that seems to rival the functionality of prototype (which it’s not dependent on anymore), and the file size of the library, including every addon and extension is only 15k! But the cool part is that it’s modular; you don’t need to include functionality you’ll never use. Don’t plan on using cookies? Don’t include Cookie.js! You can decide which modules you want from the download page, which in itself is pretty cool. I only glanced at the help section, but it looks like everything’s been simplified. Creating and extending classes seems easier than even prototype makes it.
As you can probably tell, I’m pretty exited about it. I’ve got to download it and play around with it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be everything I expected it to be. moofx is really what got me into js programming and pushed me to learn more. Ok, enough talk. Download it!
