Now Accepting Donations

If you’ll notice at the bottom of the sidebar, there is now a donation button. Yay!

Now I just have to figure out how to get all the generous rich people to come to my site.

And so this post isn’t a complete waste, I’ll explain a few of the user interface tweaks I’ve made for JibberBook 2.0. Most of my inspiration came from Humanized. I’ve implemented a modified version of their example of transparent messages. Mine disappear on mouseover instead of mousemove to reduce the chance of accidentally making the message go away before you can read it.

I’ve also reproduced the concept of the Humanized Reader when loading comments. You can set the amount of comments that load incrementally in the new config file. Right now the demo is set at 50 so it might be a while until you can see it in action. This takes care of the problem of pagination while also keeping the interface clean and simple. The only problem is that people without JavaScript will only see the most recent comments.

I’ve also added support for simple CSS theming. I’ll have to whip up a couple good ones before I release it.

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for the imminent release of JibberBook 2.0
